Well, it wasn't a copy of the american boyscouts it WAS american boyscouts.
You said the "The propaganda had its sprout tentacles reached out to even to the teen Russians." Is this a critic? Cuz as far i can see, the north-americans did the same shit with the values of country, christianism, hate the fags and etc..In the boyscouts, in the teen magazines, TV shows , radio propagandas with Ronald Reagan and cartoons.
American media propaganda tried and succeded to transform every "hazardous" aspect of the comunism,(universal healthcare for ex.) into a synonym of evil, from such a form that later all you had to do to make people afraid of something was to connect it to communism, the red menace.

What i want to say is: Ideology is everywhere, every goverment can and it will spread its ideology throughout the media and education, for all the ages and always.
Anyone think that Soviet Union brainwashed it's citizens? So did all the countries in the west, Soviet Union didn't want people to know the reality of the US? So US didn't want people to know the reality of Soviet Union either.
"Ideological, ideology, ideological, ideology" I never read so many times theses words like in this article.

Dear Stas,

You are missing my point completely.

1. This is a free space and every opinion is as good as the other and has to be respected equally.

2. If the conversation deviates off the original course but leads to interesting discussion (for participants)- it's good as well. [please, let me remind you, you were not a part of the original discussion]

3. I am a researcher and statistician myself (in Western country) and I can tell you that there is NO comprehensive statistical data on healthcare services for ANY countries at all!! Even countries like USA or UK who have the best techniques for collecting stat data don't have data set on healthcare, and the USA doesn't even collect educational data for many years. The stat. data quoted in the media very often collected via short survey and doesnt represent the "true population". I did a research on healthcare and education which are part of the service sector [which by itself very difficult to summarize in some form of data as one cannot quantify service parameters as they are "pleasure" derived by a person who receives the service - unobservable and intangible characteristic]

:)
Aksana

Please stay focused and try to stick with the topic.

Let me quote you a bit. You wrote "FREE education & healthcare is a dream of billion of ppl all over the world". This means you really think it was an archivement of a significant level. Have taken anything from the web links I gave to peruse?

Even though the healthcare system in the USSR was universal, the quality of the services provided was poor, way behing its Western analogues. Plus there were huge deficits of medical supplies like syringes or desposable needles. The articles I suggest you read have plenty of statistical data on the subject - so this discussion is not confined to our personal memories.

I would be more than happy to discuss that than the difference of opinions itself.

The last time I checked, we can discuss anything WE feel is related to the topic. This is not a Soviet school where we are told what we can and cannot say.

If moderators are unhappy about the way I participate in discussions I will be more than happy to remove myself from the fan-group!

Way to go Stas!

We would really appreciate if you kept to discussing the topic instead of making general statements.

Please consider this link to get an idea of our opinion on an adage 'FREE education and healthcare': http://germanych.livejournal.com/78169.html (in Russian)

Ash, I do agree there are many many negatives! BUT the idea was good, just badly executed. "Developed " countries have full shops but not everyone can afford what is in the shops. There are ppl living on the streets all over the world, dying and nobody helps them because of the market ideology when "weak" ppl, companied & firms have to cease to exist in order the market to work effectively.

As for brainwash... try Barac Obama:)))LOL

Anyway, it's only a matter of opinion. It looks like it's fashionable to hate USSR.

Aksana
