today 003 Soviet Hadron Collider

More than twenty kilometers of tunnels, lots of outputs and chambers for equipment and shafts are hidden underground near the city of Protvino. A huge circular ramified underground system was built for science needs. At the moment of the commencement of construction works (in early 80s) it was the mightiest project of this sort. Needless to say that such a construction seems fantastic even now. Years of uphill work, tons of technical equipment and people’s supreme efforts were directed at the project realization.
